Our comment
I have been involved in Machine Vision for many years, and I am very honored to receive the prestigious VISION Award this time. I would like to express my gratitude to the IMVE Vision Award Jury members, everyone involved in the Machine Vision Market, and my SFD (Surface Flow Detection) Scope development team.
The motivation for developing this SFD Scope came from the various inspection consultations we received from our customers. There were many cases where even scratches that could be identified by the eyes of skilled technicians could not be detected by conventional machine vision systems. For example, recognizing minutes scratches on car bodies or fine scratches on glasses was difficult with general machine vision systems. At Toshiba Corporate Research & Development Center, we developed technology to make such scratch edges more noticeable. Based on this technology, Toshiba Teli combined specialized optics and machine vision cameras to enable the recognition of scratches that were previously difficult to detect. This technology can sometimes identify scratches that even skilled technicians find challenging to discern. We expect this technology to be adopted for various scratch and dirt detection applications in the future.
I believe this technology can be utilized not only by us at Toshiba Teli but also by those involved in Machine Vision Systems. The Machine Vision Market will continue to grow significantly. We hope that our technology will contribute to society in some way. We are preparing to further develop this SFD Scope, therefore please look forward to it.
Finally, I would like to once again express my gratitude to everyone involved. Thank you.
